York Theatre Royal Façade Restoration

30/8/2019

When the Theatre Royal York was remodelled in 1879 part of the original stone façade (by architect John Harper 1834) was relocated to create a decorative screen along the Fulford Road frontage. The arches now form part of a scheme to redevelop the site and as a consequence had to be professionally repaired as a condition of receiving planning consent.
Bradley & Trotter Restoration Ltd the master stonemasons appointed to undertake the work took tremendous care in agreeing the repointing specification with the City Council Conservation officer. Richard Bradley, who takes a hands on approach described the repair process and the methodologies behind them during a fascinating talk to Guild members earlier this evening

It's good to know about the restoration of the theater. It is, in my opinion, a watershed moment in the town's entertainment. As a result, I'd like to express my gratitude to the management team for making such a decision.
